Can't get frontend to work

User Eric Dennis 2024-12-31 14:41:51

I am having trouble with getting the list to show on the front end. I am able to see the header "List Manager" in the article, but there is no data. Could you provide step-by-step instructions to make sure the data has been configured properly and how to post it in the front end? I followed the instructions from the tutorials, but to no avail. Thank you.

Hi,
the front end only requires to publish the menu entry, or, the module with the list manager inside any article. If you see no content as a first step we'd suggest to double check the following points regarding the configuration:

- At your list->fields/columns: check that at least one of the fields is marked as 'Visible in table' at the field ->display tab
- At your list->display->data layout: save the settings, no matter which options you decide to enable, as long as always the 'table' data is present in any of the sections
- At your list->display: uncheck the setting 'Show only user records': if enabled, the list will only show the records introduced by the current logged-in user
- At your list->display: uncheck the setting 'Hide records on first load': if enabled, the list will only show data when any filter is used.

If you still have problems to show data, you can share at the private data section of this ticket your url so we'll check if there is any specific conflict at your page.

Hope this helps, regards

I got it working on a test table, but it's still not what I need. I'm wondering if it's not processing correctly because the table I am trying to use is a MySQL view. Do views not work for List Manager by chance?

Hi,
the List Manager is also able to handle MySQL views as well (with the sole exception of data edition, as it's not allowed by the data view itself). There must be any issue at the configuration that is causing some kind of problem when trying to show data. We'd double check the column types to ensure the data stored matches with the data the table is trying to print, and also if there is any character either at the view or colu,mn names that could be causing problems (we're thinking in the query escapes joomla does to prevent sql injection).

Maybe you will find at your server logs or at your browser console any message that can give any clue about the origin of the issue. But if you are not able to solve, we would be happy to review your configuration, you only need to share access at the private section of the ticket.
