Export to Excel Not Working

User moon_1002 2013-04-11 14:34:55

Hi,
I work on an iMac and have just started using ListMaker. I have a Business Listing working fine and on my local host. I want to move the dB to production. I thought I would Export to Excel, then use Excel to create CSV which I could then import on production site.
However the Excel Export file can not be opened by Google Spreadsheet and when I use Apple's clone called Numbers, it also says invalid Excel format. I have an image of the Numbers screen which pretty well describes the details but I don't see how to attach that to this thread.

Hi,

If you want to move data from localhost, first create the same field structure in production, you should get CSV data from 'Export data to csv format' in list, then open it with a simple text editor, copy all content, go to 'Manage Data' > 'Load data from CSV' in production and paste it.

In fact, CSV is a text format, so, you don´t need to use Google Spreadsheet, Numbers or Excel to open it, just a simple text editor.

Hope this helps. Regards,

Yes, that appears to work from the back end, but although I don't need it, the Excel export from the front end still does not work for me.
So I am fine for now.
Thanks
David
