Finder plugin

User TheFencepedia 2024-07-19 18:46:06

Hi there,

I've been trying to figure out how to get Calcbuilder pages to appear in search, and it looks like I need a finder plugin for Smart Search?

Have you developed something like that for this component, and if not, could you? It's super necessary to be able to search when you have a lot of different Calcbuilder pages!

Hi,
we have been studying the requirement and such development is feasible, but we share with you one idea that can be useful to achieve the same function. As the finder plugin is already implemented to look into your db stored articles, you could try to publish the calculator as a module inside an article, and then let the default plugin to 'find' that article. Do you think that could do the work?

Hi,

There are a lot of calculators, since I'm building a drawing generator library. Everything is published to a specific menu. I don't know if that will work, and it would definitely be a lot more work.

Isn't this something that should be part of your component? It seems like this is a standard feature that should be built into Joomla components?

I can hire someone on Upwork for 25 dollars, so no, but it seems odd that you want to charge me for something that should be a core feature?

Hi,
a finder plugin is not in any way part of the joomla standard modules. In fact it's only possible because our module has also a component view (that is really a shortcut for publishing the module), and in addition, you can use the standard finder plugin for articles publishing the calculators as we explained above, so it's not a priority at this time to include such development at the standard download, sorry. Of course you can develop the plugin externally, as it will be completely independent from the extension itself.
